Contractors fight for 400m BBC redevelopment contract
20th Aug 2014

20th August 2014
It is though that Mace and Lend Lease are the last two contractors in the bid for the contract to redevelop the BBC television centre in White City.  The refurbishment of the iconic London HQ of the BBC will include a Soho House hotel with 47 rooms and a roof-top terrace and pool and will see with forecourt opened up to the public for retail and leisure purposes.

Developer Stanhope has said that the original features of the Television Centre will be preserved including the ‘doughnut’, atomic dot wall and Helios statue which have graced our screen for years.  The building was sold to developer Stanhope in 2012 for £200m as part of cost-cutting plans.  This will be the most major renovation to the world famous landmark of broadcasting since its opening in June 1960.  The decision on who will win the £400 m contract is likely to be made soon.
